Our Story

Every place has a story. This one has a library.

Every place has a story. This one has a library.

Why is it called The Library?

Because it was one. The bungalow was the library of Dr Nalini Karunakaran, an Ayurvedic doctor who set up this farm in Kashele in 1985. She kept her books here, saw patients from nearby villages, and came here every weekend to rest and to plant the Ayurvedic herbs she used in her work.

A life spent caring for others.

Who was Dr Nalini Karunakaran?

She spent her life caring for others: her family, her community, and the many patients she treated without charging a fee. Kashele was where she found peace, and the place still has that calm. The farm has since grown greener, with new trees, flower gardens and vegetable beds around her library.
